What is a true transformation for one’ s self? We can define transformation as an epiphany that occurs after the acquisition of new, authentic knowledge. Some people can go through transformation through the words of their parents, advice from a wise person, or from texts. Transformations are very personal, and each one belongs to the individual experiencing it. For me, personally, the great thinker Nick Land’ s ideas about the future have transformed my outlook on our civilization’ s future.
Nick Land is a philosopher from the UK, currently living in China. His predictions from the 1970s are very precise and highly reflective of our society. When the World Wide Web did not even exist and there were no accessible computers, he predicted technology addiction, artificial intelligence increasing the value of capital, and reducing the value of labor even further. He also predicted the decline of European states, the USA, and Western society altogether, as well as the rise of China and much more.
I found out about him a few years ago, before AI insanity had taken over our world. When his predictions about many things began to come true, it made me question whether his further predictions about our civilization might also be correct.
And this was my transformation: to think in a more future-oriented way and to be more conscious of rapid technological developments and their setbacks as well.
