Interview with Orhan Güler
Havin GÜLER
This is an interview about what new technologies bring with my father, Orhan Güler, who is a dentist.
Havin: Hello Mr. Güler, what do you think about the effects of the digital world on human life?
Mr. Güler: The development of digital technology has affected human nature in many ways, such as changes in perception and thought processes. For example, faster access to information through the internet and digital devices often leads to superficial learning instead of lasting knowledge.
And since this information is consumed quickly, it can create serious problems in people’ s ability to focus. One of the most significant global impacts of digitalization is the disappearance of cultural diversity in different societies, giving way to a shared digital culture. With the widespread use of digital communication, face-to-face interactions have decreased, and this has started to weaken emotional bonds between people. Furthermore, as individuals portray themselves as an idealized version of themselves in digital environments, it causes serious self-confidence problems, which in turn leads to the erosion of personal identities.
