Since the 1970s , the Internet has become more popular day by day . It has connected the whole world and became a pioneer of the “ Digital Age ’’ and globalization . Nowadays , we are creating a new universe based on the Internet which is called “ Metaverse ’’, in other words , cyberspace .
Metaverse is a virtual environment that lets users be interactive . In Metaverse , there is an avatar that represents you . Through your avatar , you can experience the Metaverse . Everyone has an avatar and they communicate with each other . They socialize , learn , and share . This interaction creates digital communities . Same as real-world , these communities need laws and ethical rules as well as rights and responsibilities . This system leads to a new concept , digital citizenship .
In the future , our digital lives will be vital . It will affect our culture and behaviors since everyone will know only our digital character , not the real us . Our digital character will be more active than us , these virtual communities will create new ideas , even new professions . With these varieties , ‘’ Metaverse ’’ is going to be more developed and popular . Governments and companies are going to invest in Metaverse , and they are going to be in a competition to be the most powerful .
On the other hand , some futurists presume that Metaverse is not going to be as popular as expected . According to them , people are not going to invest in a digital world , because there will be environmental problems and raw material shortages in the world . They think that Metaverse will not help us in the future .
In conclusion , despite all of these mentioned above , I strongly believe that the Internet will be much more important than ever before . In addition , it is pretty obvious that new technologies and ideas will emerge . As Bill Gates said : “ The internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow .”
