Digital citizens are simply referred to as “ people who can effectively use technological tools and act consciously and responsibly in the digital environment ”. In order to be a digital citizen , we must first have access to technological devices and know how to use these devices efficiently .
We should be able to use different technological devices effectively . At the same time , being aware of our rights and responsibilities while using these devices is one of the requirements of digital citizenship . We must learn what our rights and responsibilities are in the digital environment and act in accordance with the law .
In addition , a digital citizen is a person who can evaluate the information he sees on the Internet and does not blindly believe every information he finds . He takes care of his safety in the digital environment and respects the rights of other people . Digital citizenship does not mean using the Internet a lot . Digital citizenship requires acting in accordance with the responsibilities in the digital environment , using technology consciously , and reporting any illegal behavior against anyone to the relevant units .
As a result , individuals who can become digital citizens can both benefit individually and benefit the society they live in because they can use technology consciously . unfortunately , this concept has not yet become widespread today . We should raise the awareness of the society by giving digital citizenship trainings to people . Thus , we can create a safer and more useful digital environment by teaching people what the concept of digital citizenship is and its importance .
