surely it ought not to be rebuked and treated cruelly 110r its excellent am bitions. It has had several narrow ~ s- capes lately but has ' come Gut ' Of them all( including the one in the English room in the presence of the High Senlors) none the worse. with t, he exception of having its left. hind leg broken or strained in such a way that It causes a slight impediment in its, walk. But, sad to relate, thts, ' Our feline friend and schoolmate, has recently most mystertously disappeared. Rumor attributes its disappearance to the cruel longing of our Science teacher for specimens for dissection for the benefl t of the Senior Biology cla. ss.
The High Serriors have recently writ. ten essays on, their future homes, which were excellent and original, as halls where feminine delicacy and exelusiveness ruled supreme; but the names of these-future old maids will be retained tor the present; others had bachelor apartments fitted up in a truly masculine fashion. ' Of ' this latter class was the essay on " Freak ' s Hall," the inhalbitants of which were those three Senior treaks = Messrs. Mcf. aughl! n, Har r ison and BlaCkburn.,
Several days ago the fiery genius of the class of ' 98 was displayed in the production of some original stories. The Comet staff is very glad that they

Great are the anttcipations in regard to Commencement. The only problems that are now ' troubling the young ladies of the graduating class are whether they shall wear white slippers, and if they would look nearly as well in day. time as at night: The girls will probably soon decide this matter among themselves, and wear the style that most becomes sweet girl graduate ' s.
Ask the Senior boys how they spent the mornlng of April tool ' s way. Very pleasantly, everyone imagines.
Miss Roberts ' absence, during two days of last week, was caused, so the reporter thinks, by a severe attack of week, caused, no doubt, by over exer- ' lion on April 1. We hope, however that he will be able to. deliver his oration to which the Society is looking forward with such grealt expectation:'
The High School gfrIs were overjoyed to hear last week, that. the board had consented to ' allow them to join the Manual Training classes. A number, therefore, h, lLvejoined, and in the future, we expect to see some. or our most charming young ladies with their fingers tied. up, ' With other stight disabttttles ' On account of their resolve to ' compete with their masculine fellow-students. The boys ought to bestir themselves, for when. girls go into any undertaking, they. ' are most,. Iikely to far surpass the boys.
Misses Dawson and Hornsby. have composed a new grammar, which is in the form of an outline review of grammar. This is being given to ' the
I High Juniors, so that they may be well up on that subject, when they reach the Eenior class. ' This will be very useful to the High Juniors, ' and the two above mentioned teachers. should be repaid by their pupils learning this thoroughly.
MISS OTT ' LEY ' S RECEPTION.
Monday afternoon Miss Ottley gave a reception for the entertainment of a few of the Law Junior ' S in the " A " class. As our reporter was not invited we ihave not learned what the programme of ' the evening was; and neither have we heard anything from the partrotpants =-ror some unknown cause they have kept gHent about the subject.
The Seniors were furnished with excellent reading matter several weeks ago, as they corrected i( fue Low Junior essays. Many Low Juniors ' found " on the backs, of, their essays long letters which they enjoyed very much,
It was quite amusing to watch the expressions the Iaces of the Low Juniors as they received their report cards. One could almost guess the nature of the report by the sudden glow of the face, or the ' down-cast disappointed expression.
