Ken Alderman, Scott, Dukes, Ryan Hager,
Preston Jenkins, Trevor McInturff and Michael
Smith all came prepared — and trained — to take
on the responsibilities of being a member of the
elite fraternity of emergency personnel.
“We want to celebrate the success of these men
who have committed to a life of service,” said BCFR
Chaplain William Lamb.
Chief Troy Maney thanked his command staff
who has supported the rookie school “above and
beyond.”
“We have put a lot of pressure on them, because
they have been short-handed and needed firefighters. Some of the guys have had to take time to
teach the school. It’s been rough on them,” Maney
said in recognizing Battalion Commanders Don
Tankersley, Myron Hawkins and Capt. Johnny
Stokes.
He also thanked the families of the graduates for
coming and “showing them your support and how
proud you are of them.”
County Mayor D. Gary Davis gave his congratulations and some admonitions about their new
position.
He noted two of the graduates were already
assisting the department as volunt VW'2
