After stressing the importance of higher education for
the state’s workers, Hausser
said the TBR is asking state legislators for about a 4.6 percent
increase in funding.
The increase would include
an additional $200,000 for
Cleveland State’s annual operating expenses.
Hausser added that, with the
recent influx of students from

State Sen. Mike Bell asked if

Citing both Cleveland State

Hausser said colleges have
taken demands on their facilities in stride as student populations increase.
She added numerous colleges
have done “creative” things like
adding more night classes to
their schedules and heavily promoting online course offerings.
The TCAT in Knoxville “doubled”
its enrollment this fall, and she
said it simply adjusted its
schedule.
“We have the capacity to deal
with that increase now,”
Seymour said.
