Diversity is good, especially in senior projects

From dog trainer to mortician to matchmaker, Providence Day seniors are coming up with exciting ways to finish their senior years.
According to Mrs. Patricia Whelan, Providence Day’s senior project coordinator, senior projects are “required 30 hour internships” students must complete before graduation.
While a few students see this as just another obstacle on their way out of highschool, many other seniors see it as an opportunity to try something new and test out a field in which they are interested.
A survey was created by The Charger and sent out to the Providence Day seniors to complete. When asked, over half of the Class of 2016 reported they have a job lined up, and seven out of ten seniors say they are excited for senior projects. The survey results highlight the significant excitement about the “last piece in the graduation puzzle” by this year’s senior class.

With the idea of having a little fun doing something she probably will never do, Rachel Cohen decided to shadow a professional Jewish matchmaker. When asked about her project she responded that, “It’s a normal matchmaker that does Jewish-only matchmaking as well. Since I’m Jewish I thought this project would be a unique and fun opportunity.” Rachel stated that she doesn’t have an interest working as a matchmaker as an adult, but “you never know.”
