“I think this is going to do so much for kids who really need to think out loud and follow up,” Little said. By encouraging students to show their thought process, she adds, Math in Focus builds a greater level of confidence by instilling in them that it’s okay to take risks.
“To me, that’s huge.”
With a noticeable change in the outlook of her students, as well as fervent support from Little herself, this particular classroom gives every indication that the second grade’s application of Math in Focus has been a resounding success.
