CCC Activities
By KIM HOSFORD
Many events postponed or canceled
T
he novel coronavirus pandemic has cre-
ated a lot of uncertainty as to when ma-
ny of the planned events can be held.
Here are a few updates:
Q The free document shredding and drug take-
back event has been postponed. We are hoping to
reschedule the truck for June or July. When we
have a date, we will get the word out.
Q The “Walk to Remember” event benefiting the
Alzheimer’s Association has been canceled this year.
Q The Charbonneau Women’s Association Fash-
ion Show has been canceled.
Q The CCC annual meeting is postponed and a
new date will be announced once the governor’s ex-
ecutive order has been lifted.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank CCC
Board President Kathy Harp, all board directors, and
General Manager Jim Meierotto for their excellent lead-
ership during this unprecedented time. They were pro-
active in closing down facilities to keep our vulnerable
Charbonneau population safe and I am convinced that
move alone has saved lives. Our Emergency Prepared-
ness Chair Sandy Batte has been such an asset in re-
searching valid and current information and getting that
information out to our residents. I am grateful to you,
May 2020
residents of Charbonneau, for your kindnesses in words
and deeds. This has been a difficult time for all of us and
I am so proud of how this community came together.
Portland Spirit lunch cruise
We are hoping this event can still happen. If you
are interested in this outing, please contact the CCC
office and we will put your name and contact infor-
mation on the list. We only have room for 24 people.
Enjoy a lunch cruise with your Charbonneau
friends aboard The Portland Spirit vessel Friday,
June 5. A deluxe motor coach will pick up our group
from the Charbonneau Clubhouse at 10:15 a.m. and
arrive on the docks to board the Portland Spirit for
an 11:30 a.m. departure. We will enjoy a two-hour
lunch cruise, then return to Charbonneau to arrive
home around 3 p.m. or so.
Cost for this adventure is just $75 and includes
transportation and lunch. All aboooaaard!
Red Cross blood drive
As you may know, the need for blood is constant
and patients need your help.
Please consider making an appointment to donate
blood. By donating blood you are actively making a
difference in your community, allowing patients to
receive cancer treatment, surgery and the gift of life
in the case of an accident or a medical emergency.
Your blood donation provides units of blood prod-
ucts that are promised to hospitals. Blood donors re-
port feeling a sense of great satisfaction after mak-
ing their blood donation. Why? Because helping oth-
ers in need just feels good.
Q Drive date: Monday, June 22
Q Blood drive hours: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To schedule your appointment or for more infor-
mation, please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.

Charbonneau Directory changes
The CCC office staff will be updating the Charbon-
neau Resident’s Directory for 2020. This booklet is
not just a resident directory. It also contains helpful
information about Charbonneau businesses, home-
owner associations, architectural control policies
and much more.
For those who are already listed, please check to
make sure the information in the lavender-colored
2019 directory is current. The directory information
includes resident phone numbers and it is possible
that this information may have changed. The dead-
line for making changes is May 20.
If you have recently moved to Charbonneau, be
sure to contact the CCC office staff at 503-694-2300 or
