THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 19 March 2020 CHARBONNEAU NAMED COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION OF THE YEAR By COREY BUCHANAN Institute honors ambitious work done by country club over past year A t a time when Charbonneau was at odds over the devel- opment of a new recreation center and a potential merger with Charbonneau Golf Club, the homeowners association that manages the community received a piece of good news in January. The Western Oregon chapter of the Community Association Institute named Charbonneau Country Club the Association of the Year in the “very large” category. According to its web- site, CAI’s mission is to provide educa- tion and resources to community asso- ciations. Meierotto said that, to his knowl- edge, CCC hadn’t previously submitted an application to receive the award but did so this year because of the myriad changes the club has undergone re- cently. Some of the projects Charbonneau highlighted in its application included increased collaboration with the golf club for the purpose of hosting revenue- raising events, purchasing a former res- taurant and abandoned building slated to become the new center, establishing a task force to assess plans for the cen- ter, approving a budget with increased dues and hiring a consultant to provide financial forecasts. “It was the year of transition. A lot of things went from planning to ac- tion,” Meierotto said. “We got some of these bigger projects going, started to modernize. And doing things for the future of Charbonneau was a milestone for us.” McDermott said CCC is a regular participant at educational meetings the chapter hosts. “Charbonneau is a really active CAI member,” McDermott said. “They have been a really good partner with CAI and have worked hard to educate their board. When you’re educating your board like that, it shows you’re trying to make your association better.” Meierotto said the CAI chapter holds an annual golf tournament in Charbon- neau and members often compliment the community during visits. “They realize the opportunity and beauty of Charbonneau,” he said. “They really value what we have to offer.” Custom Designed Kitchens & Bathrooms “We build cabinets the old fashion way!” Noah Built the Ark without a computer.
