THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 15 September 2019 Keepers of the CLUBHOUSE F E AT U R E D LI ST I N GS 7310 SW Lake Bluff Ct $580,000 Area residents ensure events run smoothly in Charbonneau Clubhouse By CLARA HOWELL I t’s no secret that Charbonneau Country Club is bustling with activities. But not all those ac- tivities run on a traditional 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule — some- times there are evening and week- end events. That’s where the moni- tors come in. The CCC monitors are a team of three — Jan Dawson, Jerry Ricken and Dianne McMichael — that make sure events and activities that happen after weekdays at 5 p.m. and week- ends run smoothly. They also help out around the Country Club doing chores like calling people when their gym fees are due. At events, the three make sure the doors are unlocked and locked, and the alarm is set. They also oversee the cleaning list and make sure peo- ple pick up after themselves. “I think that it’s fun to be here and see the people — people that we know and meet people that we don’t know — and just to be here for events (and) see how weddings go,” McMichael said. Events the team of three might oversee include weddings, family re- unions, golf dinners, birthday parties and memorials. “Our job is if we have a wedding or any kind of event, that we go through and make sure that the clubhouse is clean and just like it was when they came in,” Dawson said. “Sometimes that’s not easy after they’ve been here for 10 hours or so and they’ve all been drinking.” Dawson, who has lived in Wilson- ville for the last two years but resided in Charbonneau for more than 30 RESIDENTIAL 2 BEDS 2 BATHS 1,990 SQFT 19472259 Popular Doral plan. 2 bed + den w/ french doors. McMichael has lived in Charbonneau for 21 years and has been a monitor for four and a half years and Ricken has been a monitor for eight months and has called Charbonneau home for the last 15 years. “They asked my wife to do it and she came home and said, ‘I don’t know if I want to do that,’ and I said, ‘I’ll do it,’” Ricken said, adding that he enjoys the job because it occupies his time. Summertime tends to be busier and each monitor works about 18 to 24 hours a month, though some months have no evening and weekend events and winter time is usually slower. “These long days really do get hard,” McMicheal said. “None of us are kids.” Since the monitors have to stay the See CLUBHOUSE / Page 16 Move in ready 2 bed, 2 bath attached home.
