over with? It really was a lovely
summer but I guess we are now
transitioning into fall. We are see-
ing a different variety of birds re-
turning to our garden; some we
have not seen in a while. I even had
a skunk walk within six feet of me
while I was gardening last week-
end! Yes, broad daylight and bra-
zen as could be.
Sunshine Service is hopefully tran-
sitioning into a new way of record
keeping as well. If you received a
phone call recently, it was meant to
track down items that were borrowed
long, long ago. In some cases more
than one year! While those things may seem inconsequential to you,
please remember that it’s all part of
our limited inventory. If our equip-
ment goes astray, it will mean that a
new, needy client cannot have access
to what they are looking for.
Many made prompt returns while
others made nice donations which
are gratefully accepted. All equip-
ment is meant for Charbonneau resi-
dents only. We can’t loan things to
your cousin’s sister-in-laws’ neigh-
bor, etc. While they might mean
well, it requires letting these items
off-site and more often than not, we
never get them back!
We’ve still got our fingers crossed about getting an elevator to assist
both volunteers and clients, in hav-
ing access to our “closet” in the
basement. The staircase is an acci-
dent waiting to happen and we all
know it! The CCC Annex building of
the future, might be just what the
doctor ordered?
A few of our own volunteers are
out of commission for a while, due to
injury or illness, so if you use the list
in your directory and cannot reach
someone, please try another number.
Be grateful for each day your are
given, good or bad, because I still be-
lieve we’re going to be okay in the
end!
