Solo Sisters
By CANDY FERGUSON
Solo Sisters really
know how to pick them
S
olo Sisters, Charbonneau’s
premier women’s singles
group, enjoyed a unique hap-
py hour in September. We had
a wine tasting party! Normally on the
second Wednesday of the month we
go to a local restaurant and enjoy hap-
py hour. However, in September we
met on the patio of the Charbonneau
Country Club on a beautiful, sunny,
end of summer day and enjoyed a
hosted buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres
followed by a blind tasting of
three white wines and three red
wines.
The purchase price of the wines
ranged from $2.99 to $25.99 and offered
a wide variety of taste and quality.
The winner in the white wine category
was a 2018 Chehalem Chardonnay with
a 90 point rating — available at Costco.
The winner in the red wine category
was Two Buck Chuck with no rating —
available at Trader Joes! The white
Two Buck Chuck, missed coming in
first by just two points. I guess we la-
dies really know our wine!
The next six happy hours will be held
closer to home in Wilsonville, Aurora
and Canby. We will finish out the year
with a holiday party in the beautifully
decorated Fireplace Room at the CCC.
In 2020 we are expanding our interests
by having a trip to Spirit Mountain Casi-
no, more afternoon bowling outings at
Wilsonville Bowl, challenging our golf-
ing abilities while playing miniature golf
and enjoying a spring hiking excursion
at Silver Falls. By the summer of 2020 we
hope to solidify plans for outings on the
Spirit of Portland and the Jet Boat.
If you are a single lady looking for a
friendly group of like-minded women, we
would love to have you join us! Please
contact Deanna Morgan at deannamor-
[email protected], and she will be happy
to give you more information.
