FOR THE VILLAGER
Charbonneau resident Cathi McLain is cur-
rently displaying her artwork at the Charbon-
neau Country Club. McLain is a retired home
economist (Sunkist Growers), and agricultural
marketing manager. She always
enjoyed drawing, never dream-
ing she would find a new passion
for painting. Since completing
her first watercolor in 2017
during a resort-sponsored class
in Hawaii, she has taken many
online classes, including a local
class with Charbonneau’s Elaine Luneke.
“I paint every day, finding inspiration from a
variety of subjects, especially my own and
other peoples’ beloved pets,” McLain says.

Her preferred medium is watercolor, but
also displays a few acrylic canvases.
McLain and her husband John moved to
their Boones Bend home in late 2013 from
Lake Oswego. John is currently president of
the Men’s Golf Club, while McLain is
president of Charbonneau Women’s Golf Club
(CWGA). Her passion for golf is second only
to her passion for art.
She finds many inspirations while walking
in Charbonneau with Jasper, an Australian
labradoodle, or during frequent travels. She
welcomes commissions, especially of dogs
and cats, enjoying the challenge of capturing
each pet’s unique spirit. ■
