4 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER March 2019 Are you interested in kayak/canoe storage at the marina? By CHARBONNEAU COUNTRY CLUB Most would consider our marina a desirable amenity for the community. It does, however, come with the responsibility for long-term maintenance and repair. The marina is now almost 40 years old and will, in the foreseeable future, require a significant infusion of money to preserve it for future use. The Board's hope is that by adding to the appeal of the marina and renting all of the slips, as well as new kayak/canoe storage space (see sidebar), reserves can be built up to make such work possible. Currently, no general funds (i.e. dues) go to support the marina, only money generated from slip rentals. So, please tell your Charbonneau neighbors, and your friends who do not live in our community, about our fine marina, that our rates are low and that we rent to residents and non-residents alike. For more information, contact Bob Harland ([email protected]). ■ From time to time, the staff at the CCC offices field inquiries regarding storage for kayaks and canoes at the Charbonneau Marina. The question is, just how interested are the people making those inquiries?  Creating storage capability for kayak, canoes and other water sports equipment is certainly possible, but it comes at a considerable cost.  To gauge how much real community interest there is in kayak/canoe storage, the CCC Board is asking interested parties to pay a  refundable  deposit of $25. If there is sufficient interest, the Board will pursue ways to finance the nec- essary equipment and installation and deposits will be applied to the cost of renting for the first season such storage is available. If there is insufficient interest, deposits will be refunded. So, if you think you would be interested in leasing kayak/canoe storage space, please submit your deposit to Karen or Kim at the CCC office by April 1.
