20 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER
Charbonneau Women’s
Golf Association
By LAURA CURRAN
CHARBONNEAU GOLF CLUB, INC. PRESIDENT
Welcome to 2019! I’ve started off the
year with those darned New Year
resolutions. A whole month has gone by
and I still haven’t lost 10 pounds, nor
improved my handicap. Apparently, I
have quite a bit of work ahead of me
this year!
A few words from President Cathi
McLain:
Our holiday party was a wonderful
success, with over 30 in attendance,
enjoying a plethora of home baked
goodies and snacks, along with a
selection of beverages. In addition to
just reconnecting after a few months
without golf, we had a fun time with the
gift exchange. Numbers were drawn
and gifts chosen in order, with those
holding higher numbers able to steal
gifts until they were frozen after the
second steal. One of our new members
seemed surprised to see so many gifts
with a wine or alcohol theme. We
laughingly assured her she will soon
learn about golf at Charbonneau!
February 2019
Thanks to VP Joann Linville, who
co-hosted the event.
I hope to see many of you during the
winter months at one of the
Membership Committee’s Winter
Luncheons. If you’re in town for any of
them, do join us for another opportunity
to reconnect with your golfing family
here at Charbonneau.

when they wanted to learn all about
him and he had to “pass muster.”
Thankfully, they were both
embraced by each other's families and
everyone got along beautifully. In fact,
they discovered that Carl's daughter-
in-law was friends with Cyd's
daughter.
“It's amazing how our lives have
changed since moving to
SpringRidge,” said Carl.
The pair has advice for their peers
who may have given up on love or
companionship: Get involved in as
many activities as you can and get to
know people. The more active you are,
the more opportunities you have to
meet others who share your interests.
Take a chance and talk to other
people. If you don't try, you will never
have a shot of finding a meaningful
connection.
