CHARBONNEAU GOLF
CLUBS PRESENT
SCHOLARSHIPS
By LAURIN LARSEN
E
very year the
Charbonneau
Men’s Club, Wom-
en’s 9-Hole and
CWGA members provide
annual scholarships to
qualified employees of the
Charbonneau Golf Club.
Applications are received
in September, reviewed by
a special committee made
up of representatives from
each club and the winners
are announced in late No-
vember.
This year’s recipients are
Emily McKillip, enrolled at
Oregon State University, a
business major, Samantha
Wettstein, enrolled at the
University of Oregon taking
general studies, and Sarah
McKillip, enrolled at The Sa-
lon Academy.
Applications are evaluat-
ed by a committee that con-
siders financial need, appli-
cant’s goals, outside inter-
ests and activities, grades,
recommendations and more.
This program is funded by
donations from club member
donations, club budgeted do-
nations, and anonymous do-
nations from the local golf
community. The Scholarship
committee is very grateful
for the support and antici-
pate the program will con-
tinue indefinitely.

After election and reorga-
nizing committees in Novem-
ber, the real work begins in
December to layout an entire
2020 golf season (March to
October) of about 100 individ-
ual major events and play
days. The Board doesn’t do
all this alone. Additional vol-
unteers from the membership
are needed to get it all done.
And of course, the Invitation-
al Tournament would never
be successful without the in-
credible support of CWGA.
We also budget and plan to
help the Niners to support the
Pink Ball Tournament each
year. In summary, the winter
is a very busy time for the
Men’s Club Board of Direc-
tors, and we need all the help
we can get to prepare another
wonderful golf and social sea-
son in 2020.
