Another new in-kind sponsor was
SPB, Salem Printing & Blue Prints,
from their store in Canby. If you no-
ticed our new banner at the entrance
to Charbonneau, it was donated by
SBP. The new banner is very high qual-
ity and we will be able to use it for sev-
eral years, giving our festival design
both stronger impact and longevity.

I would be remiss not to include our
wonderful featured artist for special
recognition. Elaine Luneke created a
beautiful exhibit of her watercolors, 24
in all, discussed her techniques and
classes passionately, and displayed her
ability to create unique jewelry as well.
Bottom line?
City of Wilsonville grant
upgrades gallery Cathi McLain, left, and Leslie Leeper at the art show.
Thanks to an Opportunity Grant from
the City of Wilsonville we were able to
purchase new, professional art display
panels for our Fireside Room Gallery,
which was thereby transformed into a
downtown-style venue. With gallery
lighting included, this upgrade did more
than just help artists show their work to
better advantage, it also transformed two other areas of the festival.
Our traditional, rented display panels
were freed up to move into the Student
Gallery space in the CCC lounge as well
as to display art in the silent auction be-
ing held in the Card Room. Both sections
were measurably improved in style and
impact as a result of this opportunity.

More new sponsors for 2019
This upgrade also involved a new
sponsor. Hubbard Cleaners donated
dry cleaning services for the covers of
the display panels we have traditional-
ly used, and so they looked quite fresh
in the student gallery and silent auc-
tion and set off the art wonderfully.

Because everyone knows that the
Charbonneau Arts Festival is a fund-
raising event that supports art educa-
tion in Wilsonville and Canby high
schools, the big question always is,
“What is the bottom line?” We won’t
know exactly until later in November
as we sort through the revenue and
expenses. Last year, we donated $8,000
to these programs and we hope to do
that or better this year. I will be able
to announce the amount of the awards
in next month’s issue, so, as they say,
watch this space.
In January, we will be holding an
award reception which is open to all
Charbonneau residents as well as the
public. I hope to see you there.
