relations at Pacific NW Bell for a
while, she has been involved with
planning many events over the years.
Lynda and her husband looked at
homes in Charbonneau off and on for
a few years. When they walked into
their Charbonneau home, they knew
this was the one and after two and a
half years, they are not sorry. The
community is everything they thought
it would be. In her spare time, Lynda
is involved with the Charbonneau Art
Festival, playing more golf and
gardening. She has three

grandchildren ages 16, 22, and 24 as
well as two foster grandchildren ages
6 and 7 who have been with the family
for over two years. She hopes that her
daughter and husband will be able to
adopt these precious children soon.
Gerri Gorney: Gerri moved to
Tigard from California in 2014 and,
after her husband’s death, moved to
Charbonneau because of its beauty,
security, and serenity. She joined
CWA because of the interesting
programs it offers and to meet the
women who make the organization
run like clockwork. After agreeing
to model in the 2019 Spring Fashion
Show, she was asked to serve on the
board and was reminded once again
that if you say “Yes” once, you’re
hooked. Her love of travel has taken
Gerri to six continents, 59 countries
and 28 states in the U.S. She is devoted to gardening and reading,
and when arthritic hands permit,
playing her piano, a gift from her
beloved late husband.
Kathy Fuller: Kathy has lived in
Charbonneau for 13 years. CWA had
already benefited from her
experience on the board; she was
involved with CWA their first year
in residence as the vice president of
programs. She had chaired five
Christmas brunch committees and
served as president for two years.
After a hiatus as a CCC board
director she has rejoined the CWA
board doing something that she
finds enjoyable: decorations. Kathy
has grandchildren and family she
loves being with, a garden she
enjoys working in, a variety of
stimulating committees that she
serves on, and just in case she is As promised earlier in the year,
the combined CWA Board (both
outgoing and incoming members)
met and carefully reviewed
members’ feedback and all of our
options. After thorough discussion
we made the decision to handle the
increased costs by increasing the
luncheon ticket price $5 per person.
Our annual membership dues will
remain unchanged. This will allow
us to continue our enjoyable and
informative programs while
remaining financially responsible.
I look forward to seeing all of you
in September and hearing about the
wonderful memories you created
over the summer.
your life.
To aid on the journey to a health-
ier you, TVF&R offers the following
tips:
■ Enlist a buddy: Talk to loved
ones, neighbors, and friends and in-
vite them to join you on this quest.
Invite them to participate in physi-
cal activities, share a balanced
meal and have a fun adventure.
Challenge each other to see who
can take the most steps in a week,
or to come up with a recipe that
transforms a comfort food into a de-
licious meal packed with nutrients.
■ Fuel your body: Eating bal-
anced meals helps your body better
fight off sickness and recover more
quickly when you are sick. Drink plenty of water. Enjoy fruits and
vegetables throughout your day as
snacks, toppings, side dishes, or in
your main meal. A healthy diet also
includes whole grains, fat-free or
low-fat dairy products, lean meats,
fish, beans, eggs, and nuts. Limit
the saturated fats, trans fats, cho-
lesterol, salt and added sugars in
your diet.
■ Get moving: As little as 30 min-
utes of exercise a day can help keep
your body fit to fight off illness and
prevent injury. You can even do
simple exercises at home. Consult
your physician to see what exercis-
es will benefit you most. Carving
out time to exercise has been
shown to increase your energy lev- el, reduce health risks, lower
stress, improve your mood, and
boost your productivity. Regular
physical activity is important for
your overall health and fitness. It
can also be a great source of fun.
■ Get your sleep: Physical activi-
ty can improve your quality of
sleep. Try to get six to eight hours
of sleep each night to re-charge
your body.
■ Ditch bad habits: Limit your al-
cohol and caffeine consumption and
quit smoking for good. Set healthy
goals for yourself and celebrate
when you achieve them.
