Investing in the next
generation of artists
A
n important question to ask
of any 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization like ours is
where does the money go
and how much good does it do?
The Art Department at Wilsonville
High School reported how they used
our donation this school year. Accord-
ing to the teacher Christopher Shotola-
Hardt, some of the monies were used
to support student entries in regional
Scholastic Awards. He credited our do-
nation for having a record number of
student entries and winning a record
number of awards. Of the school’s 200
entries, 37 received the highest honors
as Gold Key recipients.
Another use made of our donation
came in the form of buying materials
for special projects. Christopher Sho-
tola-Hardt reported: “We used the
check from Charbonneau to purchase
the materials for our space mural and
nine characters in the spray paint
master class (mural) and materials to
create the set pieces for the robotics
tournament we hosted. Those pieces
are headed to the Evergreen Air and
Space Museum. I will explain the fund-
ing of the project in the credits at-
tached to the mural.”
In my mind, our donation to their
program was money well spent! I ap-
preciate the care they take to stretch
