Pickleball comes to
Charbonneau with trial program
You’ll notice a new
look at the tennis club
with the installation of
new carpeting. Kudos go
out to Kathi Gray and
her committee who did
an excellent job of
selecting patterns and colors that really
brighten up the place.
Implementation of a new membership category
To obtain better utilization of the
outdoor courts, the tennis club board has
decided to implement a new membership
category with a nominal fee which will
allow play on the outdoor courts starting
on May 1, 2019.
Outdoor court 1 will continue to be used
for tennis only while court 2 will be for
tennis and pickleball on a trial basis.
Description of the pickleball courts:
■ There will be two pickleball courts on
outdoor Court #2 — back to back.
■ Striping of the pickleball area will be
overlaid on the tennis court, using a non-
white striping color with removable tape
for the trial period.
■ Two portable pickleball nets with
lockable wheels will be purchased. When
the court is used for tennis, nets can be
moved to side fence.
Who can use the pickleball courts:
■ Current CTC members
■ Charbonneau residents with an
Outdoor Court Membership
■ Outdoor Court #2 can be booked for
pickleball 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. through tennis bookings
■ CTC members, including Outdoor
Court members, can bring a guest, for a
maximum of three times a year, paying
guest fee of $10/per visit
■ Outdoor Court #2 will be reserved for
tennis for Tuesday evening mixed doubles,
6 p.m. and for tournament play
The pickleball trial will be closely
monitored and adapted if necessary. Stay

returns from hiatus

With spring quickly approaching,
WilsonvilleSTAGE is pleased to be
coming back to Charbonneau with
three performances of the uproariously
irreverent “The Complete Works of
William Shakespeare (abridged)
[revised],” directed by Rick Hoover.
Set under the guise of three men
attempting to run through the entire
works of Shakespeare in one go, the
three actors start off by introducing
themselves by their real names and
telling a bit about the show. But it’s
clear within the first few minutes that
this isn’t your usual, serious crack at
Shakespeare when one gives a
biography of Shakespeare that he
mixes up with a biography of Adolf
Hitler, setting the tone for the mishaps
throughout.

• Pack up personal decorations, select a few nice
pieces to display so the home is not barren.
• I suggest leaving 3 items of varying heights on
most surfaces.
• Set a scene. Create vignettes throughout the
home to help buyer’s envision living there.
• Brighten the rooms. Paint a fresh coat of a warm
neutral color on the walls. Then accessorize.
• Spruce up your entry and curb appeal. Potential
homeowner’s will form an opinion about the
home’s value within 10 seconds of seeing it
in person and 90% of homebuyers will look at
photos of homes on the internet making curb
appeal a show stopper.

Shakespeare,” director Rick Hoover
said. “They almost do it, but they
abridge them by saying that the
comedies are all basically the same
story.”
The three actors crash through the
classic plays in a variety of styles,
including a rap song, a cooking show, a
football game, topped off with
“MacBeth” done in horrendously bad
Scottish accents, only to realize at the
end of act one that they’ve nearly done
all the plays. Finding themselves left
with “Hamlet,” more chaos ensues
before intermission. Rejoining the
stage, the actors finish strong,
eventually doing the whole thing again,
faster, and backwards.
“It’s a farce and a real family show,”
Hoover said, “and it’s great for people
who don’t know or hate Shakespeare
because they’ll see it in a completely
different light.”
Come see the madness unfold at 7:30
p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 24
and 25, and Sunday, May 26, for a
matinee at 2:30 p.m.
