THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 5 April 2019 Charbonneau Women’s Association By ANNE SHEVLIN CHARBONNEAU WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION CO-PRESIDENT Understand about generational differences with speaker Understanding generational differences Conflict between generations is as old as parents and teenag- ers. All of us remember fussing at our parents with the common angst-filled com- plaint, "You just don't under- STAND!" Today, more than ever before, a lack of intergenerational understanding has spilled into all walks of life. It shows up in a variety of ways, and at some very important and sometimes unexpected moments. To better understand the differences between the generations, and how to communicate and appreciate the cultural and social differences of each, you will want to attend the April 8 CWA luncheon, featuring trainer and facilitator Nancy Gaston. Nancy has over twenty years of experience in volunteer resources management; international, national, and regional experience as a trainer and conference keynoter; certification as volunteer administrator, faith-based volunteer management consultant and human behavior specialist. Nancy has directed a volunteer-staffed crisis line, a volunteer chore service, a volunteer center and the volunteer program for a faith congregation. Her wide experience in community involvement has included serving on many boards over the years, including the Clark County YWCA, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity and the Nonprofit Network of Southwest Washington. Please join us for this informative luncheon by signing up in the CCC clubhouse by noon, April 4. The cost for the luncheon is $20 for CWA members and $25 for guests. Important Message to CWA Members As many of you know we have been working with several new caterers this year. We appreciate all of your comments and continue to make adjustments based on your feedback.  Catering costs have risen significantly in the past couple of years, particularly for a location like ours where everything must be brought in. Other costs have also increased — decorations, speakers' fees and wine. As a direct result, our luncheons have increased in cost steadily by $5-$6 per person per luncheon. We have paid the overage out of the CWA reserves. The CWA board of directors is committed to providing enjoyable and informative programs for our members and guests at an appropriate price that also covers the cost of expenses. We are not able to continue to subsidize the luncheon cost without a plan in place that will work for the association over the long term. The board is carefully reviewing this issue. We will continue to keep you informed over the next several months as we plan the budget for our 2019- 2020 year. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact co-presidents Lee Harker at leeharkermd@aol. com, or Anne Shevlin at ashevy@ comcast.net. ■ F E AT U R E D LI ST I N GS 32050 SW Boones Bend Rd $659,000 3011 sq feet. 3 bed plus bonus. 2 master suites, one on the main.
