Article 2:

Corporate social responsibility and Networks for better trust

As the awareness on the ecological pollution grows, the customer expectation and worries about the future grows with it. Nowadays companies must show a proof of that worry and awareness through their organisations actions: their corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR is the need for organisations to consider the good of the wider communities, local and global, within which they exist in terms of the economic, legal, activities they undertake. (Brassington& Pettitt; 2006)

Some companies like Acer UK Ltd decide to use environmental policies to protect the environment while producing. They engage them selves in low consumption of water, electricity etc… (Acer group, 2013). Other companies like Tesco choose to act on the social responsibility by making campaigns for helping people without food by collecting food from their customers at the end of their shopping (Tesco website, 2013). Sainsbury’s who supports small local charities in their research of fund (Sainsbury's, 2013). Google funds for example project for countries in crisis (Google, n.d.). Dove and it’s advertising for the real beauty (Dove, 2013).

The customers expect the companies at which they buy products or services that they will be philanthropic towards the society and the environment due to the global awareness of world degradation by human life. These philanthropic and ecological trends show to the customer that the companies care about the customers but also about their future in the world (Dietrich, 2012).

These policies and campaigns attract customers who are “green customers”(who care about the environment) or society concerned customers and give a good image and opinion of the company to the customer. An image that the customer can trust. This image is very important as it satisfies the customer expectation about the companies’ actions towards the environment and the society.
