other pediatric services that have already
helped many children and families in the
past. The new Children’s Hospital at Scott
& White will be a dedicated pediatric
hospital between Dallas and Austin.
When a child is sick, the whole family
is sick. A family-centered care approach is
necessary to meet each child’s physical,
developmental, and emotional needs. It
will be reflected in the design of our new
playrooms, where children will feel
comfortable and in control. It will be
visible in the acquisition of appropriately
sized equipment, just right for children.
A child’s healthcare needs are different
from those of adults. So we’re building
pediatric programs and services with room
to grow. We will recruit the right talent,
clinical experts, and allied health
professionals who have decided to devote
their careers to serving young patients. We
will train an emerging generation of
pediatric leaders. We will educate families
and give them the support they need
during their children’s illnesses. And we
will glean insights into the mysteries of
pediatric disease through medical research.
