As more people move to the Hill Country and Highland Lakes regions , these communities are experiencing a significant increase in demand for additional high-quality healthcare services . Complete inpatient and outpatient services are planned for the $ 150 million , full-service , acute care medical center serving the regions . Construction has begun on the 60,000-square-foot Scott & White Specialty Clinic - Marble Falls with about 20 medical and surgical specialties represented . In the coming months , ground will be broken on the Scott & White Hospital - Marble Falls with preliminary plans for 46 beds and the capability to expand to more than 80 beds . The hospital will also include four operating rooms , a diagnostic services facility housing imaging and lab , and a pharmacy . After-hours care and an emergency department will be on-site as well . Scott & White Cancer Center - Hillcrest , Waco
Groundbreaking : September 2012 Scheduled completion : Fall 2013 Fundraising goal : $ 7 million
Each year , about 2,600 new patients in the six-county area that Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center serves are diagnosed with cancer , most commonly lung , breast , prostate , and colorectal cancers . Waco residents will receive cancer screening , the most advanced diagnosis and treatment , and follow-up care close to home , with help from Scott & White cancer care experts . Other targeted therapies — including chemotherapy and radiation — and expertise among the 12 Scott & White multidisciplinary teams of physicians and caregivers will be brought to this area so that patients can have the best hope for survival and the highest quality of life possible . It ’ s the kind of care patients need to have available nearby , with minimal disruption to their families ’ lives .
