Scott & White Bone and Joint Institute, Temple Groundbreaking: May 2012 Scheduled completion: End of 2013 Fundraising goal: $6 million The Bone and Joint Institute is the largest comprehensive orthopaedic practice in Central Texas. Its expansive growth in recent years serves as evidence that more patients need the specialty expertise of its Scott & White clinicians. In fact, demand for services is expected to double by 2020, and Scott & White is creating a dedicated facility to care for patients’ multifaceted musculoskeletal needs. As the first in the state of Texas to offer an integrated resource with expertise focused on eight clusters of musculoskeletal care, we specialize in hand and wrist issues, ankle and foot problems, joint replacement, musculoskeletal oncology, spine conditions, orthopaedic trauma, sports medicine, and pediatric orthopaedics. The new 75,000-square-foot facility on the Scott & White Memorial Hospital campus in Temple will also house post-acute support services, such as physical medicine and rehabilitation, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. As demand increases rapidly, we must be prepared to meet the need with the highest caliber of care. Acquiring the specialized equipment and other resources necessary to outfit the institute with everything patients need is a vital next step.
