By MARCO SELORIO
PINOZ-led street dance competition Battlegrounds fires off in Perth in July at the Kennedy Baptist College auditorium.
The competition-festival, founded and organised by MAS Presents, introduces a new platform in 2017 including Urbanstar Talent Quest, Miss Teen Models, Supreme Battles, and market stalls.
The competition-festival has transformed into a lifestyle event that embraced the positive elements of hip-hop and street-dance culture.
Battlegrounds has become a vehicle for showcasing talent and a solid platform for the youth.
The main event is centred on the crew competition, which showcases the dance talent of some of the best dancers in Western Australia.
The four elements of hip-hop will be on display with graffiti art, rap and beat boxing challenge, Bboy and dance battles and DJ music throughout the day.
Battlegrounds also brings on the Urbanstar Talent Quest, an annual singing competition that has unearthed the likes of X Factor stars Cyrus Villanueva and Beau Monga, Jai Waetford, Tkay Maidza, Iggy Azalea and Sarah Ellen.
A Miss Teen modelling search provides opportunities for aspiring teenagers who are looking to build their confidence and be advocates for clothing brands.
A cultural exchange will feature food stalls with specialties from different Asian and European cultures.
MAS Presents was hyped about bringing communities together.
It is inviting music schools, high schools, dance studios, businesses, brands, ethnic groups and university organisations to get behind Battlegrounds Festival.
It is offering opportunities for the youth to perform and for businesses to support this initiative.
