“EVERY STUDENT DESERVES A VOICE, and
students’ talents and accomplishments deserve to be
shown.”What do COSTAATT students want to read
about? This was the main question in mind when we
embarked on our journey with this magazine. We
interviewed faculty members, current and past students,
persons working at NLC and City Campus. These inter-
views left us beaming with pride and full of excitement
and inspiration as we discovered the many talents that
cross our paths in the lecture halls every day. There are
so many hidden gems in these hallways. We got to know
the names behind the familiar faces that we see before
and after classes. We’ve also listened to issues that some
students wanted us to address.
To Mr. Ken Gordon, veteran journalist and media practi-
tioner and patron of the Ken Gordon School of Journalism
and Communication Studies--we are forever indebted to his
accomplishments and the opportunities he has provided for
budding journalists in the industry.
And last but not least, Professor Joanne Lisosky for taking
lead on this project and being the best lecturer that any
student can ask for. Her knowledge was invaluable and we
personally don’t think she knows how much she’s taught us.
We hope you enjoy reading this as much as we’ve enjoyed
putting it together. We also hope that you share the love and
pride that we have for this school.
It was a great honour to be chosen as Editor in Chief of
this student magazine, and I take great pride in passing the
torch to Miss Camille Hunte who will be Editor in Chief for
the next issue.
Althought this was a project of our Newspaper and
Magazine Editing class, we have a few people outside the
class to thank. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Earl Best and
Mr. Lucio Mesquita who gave detailed feedback on all of
our articles in the magazine. Miss Clarinda Jack, for let-
ting us interview her in between her busy schedule.
We would like to thank Mr. Kerry Peters, CEO of Yellow
House Media for his help with our layout and design and
Judah Chrichlow, our cover story, who inspired us all and
helped with our layout.
