DEFINING A DECADE
9 ) Work from home revolution
The stability of Wi-Fi and office applications across various access platforms has been a major change
The pandemic made this far more accepted and brought about changes in tech – think Zoom , Teams , Slack , Hop in etc . It ’ s now normal to talk to someone remotely from their kitchen or bedroom even if they are the CEO .
Voice : Denise O ' Leary
Denise O ’ Leary of Purpol Marketing , based in Chippenham , was on the verge of launching her own business back in 2013 .
“ Purpol Marketing has always been a home-based business . There has been a shift of acceptance , accelerated by the pandemic , that a prestige company office is not the mark of a successful business .
“ Using Cloud technologies has meant I was able to offer 229 fully remote digital marketing six-month kickstart placements in the last few years .
“ The stability of Wi-Fi and office applications across various access platforms has been a major change – I love my smart tablet and keyboard which can be an effective mini laptop on the train , and many phones can now do all that is needed for a day out of the office .”

10 ) The Pandemic Effect
The charity further enhanced their lifesaving operations by adding doctors to their aircrew
This global event will continue to deliver change over the next decade . It highlighted weaknesses in our global and national economy , it showed us a way to live differently and 1000s of people made life-changing decisions based on ‘ happiness ’ and ‘ joy ’. It has also accelerated a sense of community and place where ‘ giving back ’ is increasingly seen as part of a company ’ s values .
Voice : Adam Baker of Wiltshire Air Ambulance
In the last 10 years Wiltshire Air Ambulance has moved forward as a charity – securing their own helicopter and building a purpose-built base .
“ In 2015 , after the joint helicopter partnership with Wiltshire Police ended , the charity heralded a new era by operating a standalone air ambulance , purchasing a Bell 429 helicopter . “ Five years ago the aircrew and charity team moved under the same roof for the first time in Semington , near Trowbridge .
“ The charity further enhanced their lifesaving operations by adding doctors to their aircrew at the end of 2021 , raising the yearly fundraising target to £ 4 million .”
