Joe Cross , Branch Manager and Katie Wordley , Business Development Manager tell us more about Speedy Freight ' s offering .

What patch do you deliver to ? Joe : Speedy Freight Swindon service customers with locations across the Swindon ( SN ) and Salisbury ( SP ) postcode territories . However , as part of an international company , we have the resource to collect and deliver freight all over the UK and globally .

Who is the typical Speedy Freight client ? Katie : Everyone ! We are primarily a B2B service and as all companies need to send or receive goods , we can help businesses of all sizes . We work with customers across all industries ; some use us daily and others use us once or twice a year . Our service offerings are non-contractual , and we have capacity to move items of all sizes by whatever means necessary .

What ’ s the most unusual item you ’ ve delivered ? Joe : We ’ ve delivered loads of interesting stuff ! Bespoke jewellery , fireplaces to royal residences , Ed Sheeran ’ s audio kit , and pallets , thousands and thousands of pallets !

How quickly can you deliver an item ? Katie : The clue is in our name ! Our core offering is sameday and time-critical movements . We specialise in getting vehicles to any collection point in the UK within an hour of a customer ’ s request . We can also deliver ( almost ) anywhere in Europe on a next day service . This is a really popular option , especially as we offer full customs import and export service to and from any country .

Is the need for dedicated transport rather than next day couriers and pallet networks growing ? Joe : Businesses in every sector are ever more conscious of the service they can provide to their customers . If they don ’ t offer sameday delivery , you can be assured that their competitors do . Using dedicated transport means as soon as goods are ready , they can be despatched and on their way to a customer . Dedicated transport also means that goods are not being handled at a sorting facility which is perfect for sensitive , fragile , and high value goods because there is no worry that they are being mishandled .

What vehicles do you use to deliver ? Katie : Our fleet comprises of everything from small vans right through to artics . We have both curtain and box vehicles and can provide vehicles with tail-lifts if required . We also have specialised vehicles such a Hiab ’ s ( crane vehicles ) and Moffett ( HGVs with own forklifts ). We already have a number of all electric vehicles within our fleet and as this technology progresses , no doubt this will increase to ensure we are as sustainable as possible .

What are your plans and growth ambitions for the business this year ? Joe : Katie is becoming equitable in the business , and we aim to have this signed and sealed by 1st April . We have an Account Manager starting in mid-April and a key part of their remit will be to grow our Air and Sea freight offering . It ’ s an exciting start to the year .

If you had one message for the local business community , what would it be ? Katie : Save our details ! We ’ ve had so many experiences where people don ’ t think they will need us and then call us a year later . It ’ s better to know us and not need us than vice versa !
