Thank you , Ma ’ am
In the June / July issue of The Business Exchange Swindon & Wiltshire we shared the artwork of local artist , Judy Guillery of Judee Tree Art .
Judy created a commemorative piece of art to thank the Queen for her 70 years of service to the country . Sending the Queen a print , she wrote , “ I do hope Your Majesty approves .”
As we all began to mourn the passing of Her Majesty , Judy received a letter with a postage mark of 8th September 2022 , the day the Queen passed away . The letter said , I send you my grateful thanks for your kind message on the occasion of the Seventieth Anniversary of my Accension to the Throne . Elizabeth R 2022
Judy who ’ s not a TikTok regular , shared a video of her opening the letter on social media after being encouraged by her sons . The video has now been viewed over 3million times on TikTok alone with numerous , likes , comments and shares from across the world .
Judy said , “ The response has been overwhelming . I received the letter from Buckingham Palace on the day Charles III was proclaimed King . I feel very grateful and honoured and I will forever treasure the letter . It ’ s now been framed alongside my original artwork .
“ As an artist , I wanted to give my own tribute to the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee and chose to include an iconic picture of Her Majesty going back to the beginning of her story . I like to involve typography in my work , so I included poignant words to be subtly included in the various ribbons of the Union Jack flag which is set behind the piece .”
Judy has been overwhelmed by interest in her story , receiving one of the last letters sent by the Queen before her passing . She ’ s been on ITV and BBC news as well as being invited onto Australia ’ s Today Show .
She has now created another piece of art to reflect the Queen ’ s latter years , with the words ‘ Thank you , Ma ’ am .’
