THE UK ' S FIRST BUSINESS-LED CYBER CENTRE OPENS IN CHIPPENHAM
Business Cyber Centre was officially opened by Michelle Donelan MP for Chippenham and Minister of State for Further and Higher Education at a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday 10th May .

Over 130 people attended the event with representatives from government , MoD , cyber businesses and business support organisations , as well as the centre ' s new tenants .
Andrew Elliott , Deputy Director of Cyber Growth , Innovation and Skills at the Department for Digital , Culture , Media and Sport was also in attendance and spoke alongside Michelle Donelan MP on the importance of the centre and its links to education .
The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise ( SWLEP ) initiative was supported by a grant of £ 3.7 million from the Government ’ s Getting Building Fund and is based on some of the best cyber initiatives from across the world , specifically Be-er Sheba in Israel which brings together defence , security , academia and entrepreneurial expertise .
Business Cyber Centre ( BCC ) is working in partnership with the University of Bath , Defence Digital and MoD Corsham with an aim to create cyber confidence and support SMEs to grow .
SWLEP Chief Executive Officer , Paddy Bradley , said ,“ Our vision is that the BCC will transform the future of UK business by making cyber security a catalyst for growth . By working alongside cyber businesses and educators and having a diverse group of organisations linked to one site , the BCC will offer key support and enable significant skills and specialist job growth in our region .”
The BCC building consists of 21,000 square feet across three floors with space to rent specifically for cyber businesses . There is a conference facility with a capacity for 140 people , other meeting rooms for hire , a desk for hire space on the ground floor opposite a large café and space for evening events .

“ The BCC is designed specifically for SMEs to use as a base to scale up within the £ 5 billion a year UK cyber market .”
