Queen ' s Award for puzzlemaker

A Wiltshire-based puzzle company is celebrating after being presented with a Queen ’ s Award for Enterprise in International Trade .
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles , which creates its unique handcrafted puzzles from its headquarters in Malmesbury , has been recognised for its substantial year on year growth in overseas sales over six years .
The Queen ’ s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country and winners are personally approved by Her Majesty The Queen . It means that Wentworth will now be able to use the esteemed award emblem for the next five years .
Sarah Watson , Managing Director at Wentworth Wooden Puzzles , said ,“ We ’ re thrilled and honoured to receive a Queens Award for Enterprise , especially in the Platinum Jubilee year and as the last couple of years have been extremely hard for businesses .
“ This is testament to the hard work and resilience of all of our colleagues who have risen to the many challenges , working relentlessly to create our fantastic puzzles and delight our ever-growing number of customers .

A DATE AT THE PALACE

Wiltshire marketing expert Denise O ’ Leary , Founder of Chippenham-based Purpol Marketing attended the first Investiture to be held at Buckingham Palace since the pandemic and was presented with an MBE – Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by HRH Prince William , Duke of Cambridge .
Denise was awarded the honour for services to the construction sector and entrepreneurs in the 2022 New Year ’ s Honours List . She was recognised for the work she has done to demystify the world of construction and marketing . A sector which is heavily male-dominated and where the value of marketing is often underestimated .
Denise O ’ Leary MBE , said ,“ I was so thrilled and humbled to be part of such a historic occasion . The Duke of Cambridge was very friendly , and we had a wonderful personal chat , it was like a private audience as each person was awarded individually . We chatted about the importance of training young people and my love of the colour purple !
“ We were escorted through the palace and had a special pin placed on my clothes , so the insignia was easily hooked on when the honour was awarded . It was a magical , memorable and truly unforgettable experience .”
During the pandemic , Denise took the lead nationally in embracing the Kickstart programme launched by the Government , she was the first business owner in the UK to take on 50 Kickstarters at once to help young people take the first steps in their careers . To date she has supported 166 young people in this way .
