Managing Director Graeme Leighfield, explained why the change was a natural evolution for his business. “When I started GEL Studios, it was me working on a laptop from my bedroom in 2012. Now I have a team of eight and we are looking to continue growing. It’s no longer just my vision, it’s the vision of a committed and dedicated team of people. Increasingly I felt our distinctive branding needed to reflect that growth, where we are going, and who we want to work with - I feel what we’ve collectively produced, tells our story perfectly.” The main change to the brand includes a new logo, with a new emphasis on the recognisable “G” that people have become familiar with in the local area. Combined with a new font and visual direction, the brand has a more grown-up feel which is aimed at reflecting the growth of GEL Studios over the years. Creative Director Carly Smith added, “Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on what we want our brand to say about us, our ethics and values and also give clients and potential clients a real feel for our ethos as a company.” The new branding is launching officially on Saturday, 1st February and can be seen first and foremost on the team’s website. Visitors to the site will also see the core values of the team which are passion, honesty, quality, approachability and unity. “By spelling out our core values alongside the talent we bring to anyone’s website or branding journey, we know we will attract clients who are ambitious yet caring. Also those who understand the long-term value of an investment in high quality and responsive online and offline marketing assets.” Recently the team have started working on a major project they secured after beating competition from much bigger agencies – The Archives Portal Europe. Graeme said, “This project has been a fantastic win for us given the strength and quality of the agencies we were up against. We won this project because we stood out. We’ve been told we really listened to the client, understood their needs and were able to demonstrate through previous works that we are fully competent to deliver the solution end to end.” GEL Studios has gone from strength to strength since it began with clients now ranging from Comedy Central and Future Fit Training to small, local, independent businesses such as Eggelicious, Aura Signs and Ottr Works. The team are already known for their award wins. They secured the Web Development Project of the Year title in 2017 for their work on The Lost Cinema (an outdoor cinema company) at the national Digital Entrepreneur Awards.
