THE TECHIES AWARDS 2019 The Winners CUTTING IT AWARD WINNER Render of Swindon Render’s entry showcased its innovative and amazing work for Airbus. The company has delivered multi-user virtual reality experiences which, in turn, showcase what Airbus does and evidence its place at the cutting edge of the aerospace industry. These VR assets allow Airbus to help trade show visitors and potential clients to immerse themselves in the products on offer, experiencing virtually the world of Airbus and aerospace. Mark Miles, Managing Director, said, “It’s brilliant to win this award and to be part of this celebratory event of all things tech in our community. We were lucky enough to pick up some awards last year so were thrilled to be recognised again. To be seen among our peers as a brand which provides innovative visual solutions for our clients to allow their own customers to be immersed totally in what they can offer, is very humbling.” The Render team of 16 continues to work with Airbus and is now involved in what is known as ‘virtual twins’ providing VR and AR experiences which allows companies to simulate activities in an immersive virtual environment mirroring a place or building. An example might be creating a virtual twin of a real oil rig to train people in health and safety around the construction or to virtually practice a real-world evacuation prior to visiting the actual rig. The other finalist in this category was Appsbroker. USING TECH TO TRANSFORM BUSINESS AWARD WINNER FUTURE TECH SUPERSTAR AWARD WINNER Evo-Soft of Swindon Daniel Curran from Infinity Nation of Brinkworth This winning entry focused on the Evo- auction product which is now used by many auction houses across the UK. It allows auction houses to give their online users what they need with a straightforward, enjoyable and intuitive buyer/seller experience. In turn, this provides auction houses with the tools to interact effectively with buyers and sellers and therefore drive an increase in profits. Evo-Soft is a company based in Badbury, near Swindon and they are a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Specialist and as Microsoft Gold Partner. The company was created 17 years ago by partners Ashley McIntyre and Derek Fisher. Today they have 50 staff with offices also in Manchester and Ireland. He joined Infinity Nation as an apprentice three years ago and since then has gone on to become an SEO Executive. Daniel, 23, is passionate about digital marketing particularly around SEO, PPC, UX and CRO. A former student from Lydiard Park Academy he joined the digital marketing agency from college and has excelled ever since. Darren said, “I’m thrilled to have won this award it means a lot to me. I’ve really valued my journey as an apprentice and I’m excited about learning more in the future. CLOUD INNOVATION OF THE YEAR & FLYING THE FLAG FOR SWINDON & WILTSHIRE AWARD WINNER Appsbroker of Swindon Appsbroker is a company with a team of 100 based in Swindon’s Old Town and another 50 based in Romania. They are the UK’s biggest Google Cloud partner and in 2018 they were named as the number one seller of G-Suite licences in the UK. They work in an agile manner with businesses large and small. Their customers have included well-known brands such as Santander, Quantexa and Jaguar Land Rover. the Techies 2019 22 THE BUSINESS EXCHANGE 2019 New team member Cameron Turnbull, who’s 24 and from Bath, said,“I’m thrilled to be part of something like this. I’ve been with the company less than a year and to see us win an award really makes me feel like I’ve made a good decision to be part of this company.” Other finalist in the Cloud Innovation of the Year category was OJO Solutions.
