THE TECHIES AWARDS 2019
The Winners
BEST TECH SECURITY AWARD
Cardwave of Devizes
Cardwave are specialists in flash memory
products which are used worldwide and
the company has been part of the tech and
manufacturing landscape in Wiltshire for 14
years. With a team of 20 they have an office
in America and their company is growing.
Their products are used across a wide range
of products that we often take for granted.
These include sat navs in cars, phone
systems and Raspberry Pi devices to name
just a few.
Dan Hockham, Customer Solutions
Manager said, “We are over the moon
to have won this award. This event is an
opportunity to showcase those working in
tech in Wiltshire and therefore it’s invaluable,
allowing us to put our name on the map in
our sector. It also enables us to get to know
other local companies working in the same
sector.”
Other finalists in this category were
Core To Cloud and OJO Solutions.
BEST TECH SUPPORT SERVICE AWARD WINNER
Blue Frontier of Salisbury
Blue Frontier clearly demonstrated how they
were prepared to go the extra mile for clients.
One example detailed how they helped a
local SME on a Sunday with the disaster
recovery of a server. The service request
came without notice and was outside of any
existing contract or agreement, however Blue
Frontier were happy to take on the challenge
and managed to get the firm’s essential
services back up and running in time for
Monday morning.
Blue Frontier is a leading UK digital
agency offering a range of services including
web design, mobile apps, digital marketing,
IT and software. The company was founded
in 2005 by James Fry, the Managing Director
and his business partner Luke Harrington,
Development Director. They now have a team
of 50 across their offices in Salisbury and
Southampton. The company won this award
based upon their team effort to go the extra
mile for their customers.
Marc Whittingham, Technical Director who
has been with the company for more than 12
years, said, “This is a great achievement for
the team validating the massive amount of
effort and dedication put forth over several
years. This is a massively team driven effort
and all credit goes to Amanda for managing
the day to day activities and to Tim, Jamie,
Seth, Paul, Ben, and Kirk for their tireless
commitment to service excellence.”
Blue Frontier are fast becoming the ‘go-to’
agency around an emerging revolution in
health technology, often known as ‘connected
health’. Using tech solutions, they are
supporting organisations to undertake health
tasks, such as taking swabs, and using a
device to analyse the swab, to enable remote
diagnosis or analysis. Results can then be
sent back securely and quickly to the NHS in
the UK or to another country’s health system.
This will help to deliver appropriate health
and care services in an efficient manner.
The other finalist in this category was
Priority IT.
BEST USER EXPERIENCE AWARD WINNER
OJO Solutions of Bradford on Avon
The project OJO put forward for their
entry was Stratigens; a platform
allowing users to analyse the current
climate within their sector, compare
important stats and configure reports
from their findings. The challenge was
in disseminating so much data and
making it easy to digest and understand
on any device, ensuring executives
have the information they need at their
fingertips.
OJO Solutions has the tag line
‘transforming organisations through
technology’ and their win backs that
claim.
The company, which has a team
of seven, created the product for
their client, Talent Intuition. Nathan
Baranowski, Managing Director, said,
“We’re thrilled to win this award, over
the moon. This project was a real
journey for us all, it required problem
solving and providing a platform which
could easily gather and present a large
amount of data. We loved working on it
and we’ve also invested in it ourselves
so it’s wonderful to be recognised for
user experience.”
With this project OJO and particularly
led by Director Kevin Triggle, the team
were able to develop a consistent
brand and user experience, as well as
ensuring the product can compete and
outstrip market competition. Stratigens
is now being used across the globe
reaching as far as Japan.
Other finalists in this category were
Naturally Social and Evo-Soft.
