PERSONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Start with the end in mind

What did the first day back in your business this year look like? Did you work ON your business, goal setting, inspiring and focussing your team, looking at what needs to be done in Q1 to achieve the results you want this year? Or was it spent working IN it, whilst taking the Christmas decorations down and wishing you were still on holiday?
Ellis Bardsley
If you could set and keep one resolution in 2017 it should be to set clear goals, objectives and tasks that will get you to where you want to be. Then invest 4 to 6 hours of your time each week working ON your business.
We all want results. There is only 1 true KPI in your business = How much profit did you make last month?
Results come through consistent focus and positive action taken each week that is measured against prioritised objectives that are broken down in to clear tasks. Each task should link with and take you towards next week’ s tasks, towards next month’ s objectives, next quarter’ s goals, next year’ s goals, ultimately to the next 3 to 5 year goals.
How can you work ON your business today if you don’ t know where you’ re
going? Start with the end in mind!
By way of an example we’ ve spoken to Karl Humphrey of Humphreys Electrical Ltd to find out more about what they have achieved by working ON their business with Ellis.
What have you achieved since working with Ellis? From day one Ellis made us realise how much of our time we spent working IN the business rather than working ON the business and how much the day-to-day operation depended upon Mike and I.
Since then we have generated record results, the largest sales pipeline in our history and a team structured to free up our time. We still have a little way to go to achieve this in full, but are making great strides in the right direction and I am
certain with the help and assistance of Ellis we will be there in the near future.
How has your work with Ellis made a difference to your business, life and personal confidence and ability? Ellis has made us stand back from being completely immersed in the day-to-day operation and take a good look at what the business was doing at the time and where we were in the market place, where we wanted to be and what we had to learn and do personally to improve our ability and reach the goals.
To move the business forward and achieve growth and our goals it became clear that we had to change, learn more, open our minds and become business people not just technicians.
