OF WORLD WARS AND SAVING TAX
In our core business of helping our clients to save tax we have the
privilege of exploring many interesting properties, some because
of the processes they hide and a few of national historical
significance. One of my favourite is also quite unassuming.
Hangar 45 in Wiltshire is, as
named, a classic military building
with the roots of its construction
as far back as the Royal Flying
Corps in 1916, and used
throughout WWII as an important
radio and wireless training camp
as well as flying school.
The larger site, named RAF
Yatesbury, hosted famous names
including Guy Gibson who, before
progressing to dambusting,
actually made his first solo flight
from there in 1936.

The manufacture of these forms
needs large areas that are well
ventilated but dry and a hangar fits
that brief perfectly and 45 has the
bonus of built in office space.
We were referred to the purchaser
of the hangar by his solicitors and

lighting, power and water supplies
a survey was carried out and a
substantial capital allowances claim
made.
So we have an old and listed military
building that spent a long time in
disrepair and consisting mainly of
