RECORD YEAR FOR SWINDON
SOLICITORS
Regent Circus-based solicitors Bower & Bailey have
enjoyed another spectacular year in the buoyant
local marketplace, with 2016 marking their 31st year
in the town. They have experienced organic growth
in all sectors of the practice, most notably having
increased their market share in both the residential
and commercial property sectors.
Growth has driven seven new appointments to the team,
making the total number of staff in the Swindon office to
just under 50 employees.
A highlight of 2016 was being recognised for their
achievements as an apprentice employer, being chosen as
runner up in the Apprentice Employer of the Year category
at the Enterprising Wiltshire Awards. This demonstrated
the firm’s continued commitment to investing in young
talent. Apprentice employee Natasha Welsh, completed her
business administration apprenticeship with New College
and is now a fully-fledged member of the team.
In January, Simon Smith, the commercial property
partner who set up the Swindon office in 1985 was made
managing partner of the entire firm. Simon now has direct

involvement with all four of the Bower & Bailey offices in
Oxford, Witney, Banbury and Swindon.
Another success of 2016 has been the launch of
the Swindon Women in Property Group. Mary Cutts,
commercial property partner and Stephanie Nunley,
solicitor and business development manager, were
instrumental in setting the group up. Mary said: “The
group was founded to enable us to form better local
business connections, ensuring that we can improve
the way in which we service the Swindon and Wiltshire
marketplace.”
The next Women in Property event will take place on
Thursday January 19 at Cumberwell Golf Club in Bradford
on Avon. The keynote speaker will be Charley Brentnall of
construction company Carpenter Oak, specialists in oak
framed buildings. Anyone interested in booking should
email Mary Cutts: [email protected]
Bower & Bailey are launching their 2017 community
support and engagement with their sponsorship of
the Swindon Guide Dogs 2017 Calendar. A cause they
have supported for a number of years. They have also
announced their support of the Swindon Youth Festival of
Literature for the third successive year.
