“ Would your business recover if the worst happened?” asks Cloud Heroes
Business continuity isn’ t just a buzzword, it’ s essential for your business’ survival. If the worst did happen – floods, theft or accidental damage – would you be able to stay in business?
Setting aside time to structure a business continuity – or disaster recovery – plan is something we highly recommend at Cloud Heroes. Think about how your business works, what do you absolutely need to continue operations? How quickly do you need this to be up and running again?
The cloud is the perfect foundation for a robust and secure disaster recovery strategy. The main benefit is that your data
The company takes a flexible approach to its customers requirements, realising that one solution does not fit all by using the latest geospatial data and technology. Choosing the right tool for the job, CartoConsult works with the latest 2D and 3D technology.
Tim Hughes founded the company after 15 years as a senior geospatial analyst at Halcrow, now CH2M working across Europe and the Middle East. A born and bred Swindonian Tim was a pupil at both Commonweal School and Swindon College before joining Halcrow as a trainee and working his way up in the firm.
Always keen to embrace new technologies and innovative products Tim set up CartoConsult to partner with the best innovators in the world and create a unique offering for clients. The company acts as a reseller for Californian based technology and systems are accessible from anywhere and any device. We also recommend hosted Exchange or a similar service, which allows reliable email access and ensures your inbox and drafts are always backed up.
A client of ours once had the misfortune of losing all office equipment overnight to theft. All business-critical equipment was gone, yet they were able to quickly replace
innovator, CyberCity 3D providing interactive maps that can be used in planning, design, logistics and construction project vision documents.
Tim said:“ Many of the maps and visuals that we create help businesses make informed decisions on proposed projects. Verified views and photomontages can be used in planning application work and have aided their approval or highlighted glitches in plans that can be identified before negotiations have gone too far down the line and costs have been incurred. Our products are perfect for stakeholder consultation.
“ Locally we have worked on projects such as a 3D measured building survey for Swindon Borough Council and we supplied data for a 3D Planetarium for Bristol City Council. Bristol City Council added value by using our 3D building data“ The 3D maps are the hardware and restore all systems from cloud backups. Thankfully they had recently moved to the cloud, and only needed the internet to access their systems and emails, so business operations could resume without affecting any customers. A cautionary tale for us all.

Innovative tech celebrates first year in business
Set up in April 2015 CartoConsult specialises in cutting edge 3D mapping technology used for virtual reality application such as architectural design to commercial property development, highways mapping, urban planning and environmental projects.
intended to be a tool for investors to navigate the development hotspots and gain access to information on current structures, those still in the pipeline and even local planning regulations. We colour code buildings to reflect their construction status and additional details, such as who developed the structure, its building use and number of units.
“ More than anything, this puts critical information into the hands of those making real-time investment decisions and paints a powerful picture of how a town or city’ s skyline is literally being reimagined before our very eyes.”
CartoConsult are partnering with CyberCity 3D to undertake Rapid Energy Modelling( REM) and visualisation to map out the energy efficiency of residential and commercial estates within a set area. The information will be pulled from a spreadsheet
to create a 3D map displaying in-depth information per building including energy scores. This will be a big hit with local authorities trying to manage their building portfolio.
Entering its second year the company is steadily growing with the appointment of Adam Winpenny as CAD and GIS project manager with a software developer on the way.
