GET READY FOR THE BUSINESS SHOW - SWINDON Get An Insight Into Swindon’s Business Future At The Influence Conference Influence, Swindon’s business voice, is inviting the local business community to join them at the Influence Conference to receive an insight into the key projects and initiatives being progressed in the town. Preceding the Swindon Business Show, the Influence Conference will be taking place on Thursday 15 May at STEAM from 8am until 9.45am. There will be a fascinating line-up of speakers who will be talking about work currently being done that will help Swindon develop and grow over the coming years. Nationwide’s experts will be taking us through the economic forecast for the locality. Mike Godfrey from the Swindon Skills and Employment Board and Angela Barker-Dench, Swindon UTC principal-designate, will provide an update on how we’re getting the right skills in Swindon, both through growing our own talent and retaining the talent we already have. Brigadier Piers Hankinson from Wiltshire-based 43 Wessex Brigade will be talking about how working in partnership with the Army Reserves by employing reservists is good for your business. The Council’s initiative to promote local procurement opportunities will be the focus from Paddy Bradley, head of commissioning, economy and attainment at Swindon Borough Council. Swindon Museum and Art Gallery Relocation Project Steering Board member, Robert Hiscox, will be telling us more about the project to relocate the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery Project from Old Town into the town centre. With grants already secured of £95,000 from the Arts Council to help with preliminary relocation work, as well as a £81,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund this will be an exciting cultural addition to the town.
