INDIE BUSINESS
We’ d all like a little bit more: Especially cake!
Cake Café has further invested in Bath with a move to larger premises at 3 York Buildings, George Street.
After six and a half years in Southgate, being one of the most successful shops for its size in the development, Cake Café decided to expand.
3 York Buildings is arguably one of the prettiest shops on the street. The new owners have completely refurbished the space with their unique style which includes, colourful macaroon wallpaper and sweet coloured sofas in the first floor lounge.
The move to George Street follows the opening of a second shop for the Bath built brand about a year ago. Cake Café opened on Quiet Street in February 2016 in line with the owner’ s ambitions.
Poppy Powell who was brought up in Bath and attended Ralph Allen School said:“ I always wanted Cake Café to be a place for locals and visitors to the city to come and enjoy excellent coffee and a taste of traditional English baking.
“ The majority of our produce is baked onsite and where possible we invest in local too. Our coffee is from Clifton Coffee, based in Bristol and we also use Bath Cake Company amongst other local suppliers.”

TRAVEL AGENT INVESTS
Following six successful years in Bristol, CThe World has expanded into Bath with new premises in The Corridor.
C The World offers tailor made trips, from weekend stays in London, to round the world cruises. The company prides itself on its personal service, spending time to really get to know what a client wants from a holiday.
Across the firm, owner Carolyn Park employs ten staff which between them have 200 years’ industry experience.
Carolyn set up C The World in 2010 after spending 7 years working for an independent travel company in Cheltenham. After it closed, Carolyn decided to go it alone and started C The World from home. Nearly seven years later, the firm has three offices with bases in Bristol and South Gloucester too.
C The World is a member of ABTA and has access to an ATOL license, assuring peace of mind when booking and paying for a holiday. Carolyn also sits on the AITO Agents panel, representing independent travel agents.
With many high street travel agents closing due to the pressures of online competition
CThe World seems to be bucking the trend
with their continued growth.
Carolyn said:“ A holiday is one of the biggest purchases of the year. Why click it? There are so many options that are not showcased online and that’ s where we come in. When you visit us, we offer you a personal experience. There are no desk distractions and travel agents looking at screens. We sit down and look at brochures and maps and come up with an experience just for you. The service we provide is no more expensive than booking it by yourself either.”
Step inside the C The World offices and you will see their creativity. Bank notes from all over the world line the walls and the décor has been designed to simulate being onboard an aircraft in their business lounge.
Carolyn added:“ It’ s the finishing touches that makes us stand out from the competition. When you book your trip with us, we do everything for you. All you need to do is turn up at the airport with your travel documents. We are on hand 24 / 7 if you need us for any reason whilst you’ re away.”
