Black Nova reflects on a year of achievements

By Kyle Holmes of Black Nova , working with companies across the South West offering IT support , installation , website hosting , design , social media marketing and cyber security services .
Wow , what an amazing year it ’ s been for me and my team as the company has continued to grow .
Among our achievements was my personal challenge of completing the Three Peaks Challenge to raise £ 1,500 for the RNLI in memory of my friend Ant who passed away at sea – it allowed me to also talk about the importance of men ’ s mental health . I could not have achieved any of that without my team supporting me .
I ’ m also proud of the fact that we ’ ve got ‘ out and about ’ far more across the South West . We ’ ve made a positive effort to attend events to meet new people and build new relationships . These have included the Badminton Horse Trials , the South West Business Expo in Swindon and the Wiltshire Techies where we were proud to be finalists in the IT support category .
Most recently we have hosted our second successful festive open day and sole trader / business Christmas party . We invited the
public to meet us and this is all part of our mission to help all be at ease with technology . The Christmas party also ‘ gave back ’ to our fantastic clients and associates , some of whom do not get the chance to celebrate the festive season .
Here are our three top tech tips for 2023
1 . Consider the circular economy We understand the importance of sustainability and climate change . However , technology is also becoming more sustainable as an ecosystem for efficiency , progress , and innovation . The circular economy is going mainstream in 2023 and we predict a more ‘ repair and reuse ’ trend in terms of technology procurement and asset management strategies .
2 . Think about AR / VR applications In 2023 , augmented reality and virtual
reality will become more accessible and affordable to the everyday user . This will provide opportunities for businesses wanting to showcase their products / services in an engaging and contemporary way . Get ahead of the trend now ( we can help !)
3 . Zero Trust environments Cyber attacks have risen dramatically over the last five years as criminals become more and more sophisticated . We believe every company will need to implement zero trust environments . This means that staff members won ’ t just be able to ‘ log in ’ to a company ’ s system and go access anything they like . There will be more curation of who can access what , and new levels of security with multi-layered log-ins to make sure the user is authenticating when they access company assets and protecting sensitive data . Companies will have to educate staff around
this and explain why it ’ s necessary – to get over the fact that many staff won ’ t like that change due to it creating more complexity within systems . We can help any company move through this process . And if you need help , support or advice about any of these things please get in touch . Happy New Year !
