TWO YEARS AT THE CORE OF IT

Innovative health and wellbeing clinic At The Core is celebrating two years since it first opened its doors on Bath ’ s Walcot Street . Specialising in the management of arthritis and the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions , At The Core is one of only a handful of clinics in the UK to use safe and non-invasive MBST ® magnetic resonance therapy as part of its physiotherapy practice , to help stimulate cell repair and promote healing .
At The Core was set up by husbandand-wife team Paul and Julia Tisdale along with business partner and physiotherapist Adey Saunderson . Following his own experience of injury in the world of sport , former professional football player Paul was inspired after witnessing firsthand how MBST ® technology has transformed the lives of people across the world . Paul and Julia share the story of At The Core so far ...
Launching a new venture is always a challenge but opening a health clinic in 2020 with all the restrictions coming and going was no mean feat ! Did friends and family think you were crazy ? Julia : Yes , it was a bit bonkers , however , if it hadn ' t have been for lockdown , I don ' t think it would have happened . The lockdown meant that both Paul and I were home , allowing us the time to research MBST ® therapy and set up the clinic . It was also a welcome relief from the torture of home schooling three kids ! I think we were the only idiots asking to view rental space in the height of the pandemic though .

How did you get into MBST ® therapy ? What ’ s your background ? Paul : I grew up in Bath and went to school at Beechen Cliff . I have spent the last 30 years in professional football as a player , coach and manager . My work has taken me to Southampton , Bristol , Helsinki , Athens and then Exeter , but I have always regarded Bath as home .
In an elite sporting environment , health and fitness is clearly of high importance . As a professional sportsman , the need for a speedy recovery is paramount . I have always had a radar for the most effective modalities to support healing .
I learned about MBST ® [ magnetic resonance therapy ] in 2019 and quickly realised it was by far the most effective treatment I had experienced , not just for injuries but also for arthritis and other common ailments . It is the only available treatment to work at molecular level and importantly it is free of invasive procedures , drugs or injections .
I have always had an interest in the link between physical fitness and mental well-being and wanted at some point to open a facility in Bath to develop a centre for health . Discovering MBST was the prompt I needed - a pioneering technology with no side effects , and a perfect adjunct to other treatments and hands-on physiotherapy .
Sportsperson or not , young or old , having the opportunity to lead an active lifestyle is a fundamental part of maintaining mental wellbeing . The At The Core vision is to assist people in achieving their active lifestyle .
What influenced the decision to set up a clinic here ? Paul : Bath is home for both of us , so it was never in question .
We love Bath and felt that our MBST ® therapy clinic had a lovely synergy with the healing waters of The Roman Baths and Bath Thermae Spa . We purposefully wanted to be in the city centre as we anticipated patients travelling to Bath for treatment , meaning that they would need to stay for five days . This is something that happens a lot and it means that people can enjoy the sights and shops of Bath between treatments .
Julia , what ’ s your role in the business ? As well as doing all the accounts and administration for the clinic , I am the first person you will speak to when calling At The Core . Even though I am not medically trained , I have learnt a lot about MBST ® treatment over the past two years , meaning I am able to answer most initial queries . I then look after the booking process and see the patients when they are in the clinic having MBST ® therapy . Aftercare is an important part of the process too , so I follow up with the patients after treatment to track their progress .
When I am not in the clinic , I am forever promoting MBST ® treatment . It is hard not to , when you are working with such an incredible technology that you know will help people .
What kind of patients are you treating ? Paul : All kinds - we have a lot of elderly arthritic patients , but also a lot of patients in their 40s and 50s who have earlier stages of arthritis . This is ideal , as the earlier you catch arthritis , the better chance MBST ® therapy has of making a considerable difference and slowing down the degeneration process . We have great results treating backs and necks too , as the technology also has positive effects on intervertebral discs .
