the pandemic will cause irreparable damage
to a whole generation.
“The gap between the rich and poor in
Bath is wider than almost any other city
in England and it should shock us all to
know, in an area as affluent as Bath, one
in five children live in poverty. Many are
malnourished with significantly reduced
abilities to succeed at school and get into
meaningful employment.
“Summer Break Out will face the
challenge head on, with huge dollops of fun
thrown in.
“We have had amazing support from
other charities, businesses and individuals
who believe in the proactive approach we are
taking. We want children to be as prepared

Bath Welcome Back’. Some of those ideas
are already influencing our thinking such as
our cheerful set of rainbow themed outdoor
graphics to support safe queue management
as businesses begin to reopen. It has been

of talented and cheery volunteer Welcome
Ambassadors has helped over 17,000 people
in the short time since it was created. The
challenge for us all is to maintain the spirit of
collaboration and community which we have
all witnessed over the last few weeks and
make that the new normal.”

Since a drop-in session with the Soul Spa is
£2.40, the price of a coffee, we teamed up
with Mind Bath, the mental health charity,
who were running a ‘#CupofCoffee?’
campaign to help them raise more funds.
“Mind Bath has experienced an increase
in people needing their services and is a
really good fit for us as our aims are very
much aligned. We have since additionally
begun to work with them to add to their
Wellbeing in the Workplace packages, as
well as donating money from any bookings
we get through them. We hope to continue
this partnership even beyond lockdown so
that we can support their important work
into the future.”
