A WINNERS SMILE
The cheers of the crowd had quieted somewhat down after the announcement
of the second runner up, Lizeth from Colombia. She was a beautiful young woman, but
still stood no chance against the last two waiting for the announcement for the
crown. The atmosphere was tens yet exiting. Some couldn’t understand why their
country was not the one standing there on stage as one of the two finalists. Others were
thrilled to see these two amazingly beautiful ladies “fight” for the title as Miss universe.
Intense whispering was heard among the crowd. Who will win? Who will take the title
as Miss universe? The same questions where heard from all around the room. All eyes
were drawn towards the host as he was given the envelope with the name of who will
hold this exiting title.
I opened the envelope and read the winners name quietly to himself. The seconds it
took him, felt almost to long to bare. All chatter died in a sudden halt as the host lifted
the microphone to his lips ready to announce the winner. Some over exited fella in the
very back shouted a very high pitched “Go Norway” before it all went back to silence.
His lips parted, and the crowd went wild with loud cheers and noises. Miss universe
1990, Mona Grudt now held the crown and the title some would die for. Her face held
an expression of confusion, happiness and utter amazement, as she heard her name
being called, as if she herself could not believe what had just happened. It would
certainly take time to forget this day, if possible at all. The day she smiled a smile so real
and so stunning it gave us all chills.
