In this lesson students will play computer games, in which their knowledge about materials is very important.  They play in pairs, so they practice speaking and reading to follow the game.  Teacher gives them sheets with vocabulary in order to do it easy and funny. a. Check students knowledge about materials properties a. Read instructions (the computer game) to follow their knowledge about materials properties. b. Work in pairs and practice speaking in English. Learning English and Technology with computer games Classify materials by playing with computers. Check their understanding by doing Quizs. Computer games and quizs are in this website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/index_flash.shtml Medium 1 In previous lessons, teacher explained groups of materials and their properties. 2 In this lesson, teacher explains with an example how to use each game and students play with materials properties by classifying objects. 3 Teacher gives them a work sheet with vocabulary about difficult words. 4 Students can check vocabulary with the sheet that they have if it is necessary. 5 Students work in pairs and start with game 1: GROUPING AND CHANGING MATERIALS 6 Students repeat the same activity with game 2: SORTING AND USING MATERIALS 7 Students repeat the same activity with game 3: CHARACTERISTICS OF MATERIALS 8 Students repeat the same activity with game 4: CIRCUITS AND CONDUCTOS Strengths Students develop their reading comprehension through playing games. Students develop their reading comprehension through doing QUIZS. Furthermore, they also improve their speaking by working in pairs. They also can continue playing games at home, because it is funny. Weaknesses Students same times are very impulsive by playing videogames, so they read information very quickly and they don´t think well. 11
