Ashforth
Resigns
Ex Harrogate Railway manager
Lee Ashforth admits he has no
regrets after resigning as the
manager of the NCEL Premier
side.
The decision made by the boss
was taken with the side having
played only four games in the
league and they had made an
impressive start with the side
being unbeaten in five of their
opening six matches, although
most of them were cup games,
but in the last two matches the
side conceded 12 goals, with a
7-0 loss at home to Handsworth
Parrmore and then in the first
qualifying round of the FA Cup
they lost 5-0 again at home this
time to Consett, the ex-keeper
told the club's committee that he
thought it was the right time to
go
"I didn't want to put them in that
position, I have made good
friends at the club and I am
disappointed to be leaving but
the timing just felt right for me
and for the club really."
When looking at why he made
the decision to leave, Ashforth
admitted there were key
reasons as to why he felt it was
the right time to depart from
Station View:
"I enjoyed my time at the
club but it is not a full-time
job you get your expenses
and that's it, I wasn't
enjoying all aspects of it
and you have to reflect on
what is happening and
when I was seeing what
the situation was I decided
that it would be the right
time to say that it was time
to go."
For the club they had
many highs with Billy Miller
in charge and Nathan Cartman
scoring the goals for the club, a
few seasons ago, but during the
last campaign Railway suffered
relegation from the Evo Stik
leagues as they finished 21st in
the North league division one
and also 12 points away from
safety, Ashforth has also played
a part and been involved in
those successful times at the
club, he said he enjoyed it all:
