Redford’s on fire
Young Liversedge striker
Vaughan Redford says he is not
surprised by the side
impressing this season, writes
Thomas Feaheny
(@thomasfeaheny).
So far they have gained
good results against the likes
of Handsworth
Parramore, Armthorpe Welfare
and Staveley Miners Welfare, it
has been a very bright start to
the season for Sedge.
Speaking about the 3-3 draw
with Handsworth, Redford who
scored a first-half hat-trick in the
match, explained how he saw
it: "It was a weird match
because they are rightly one of
the best teams in the division
and we played really well and
should have actually won the
game to be 3-0 up and looking
in a good position, but we left
taking the good from it because
we got it right for most of it and
it is things like that, that give
belief to us all."
Maybe their rise should not be a
shock as they ended the
season strongly and stayed up
despite having to play many
games in the final month of the
season and going on a seven
match losing run earlier
in that campaign, Sedge
stayed up and the hope
is there that momentum
can be gained and in the
early part of the season,
it appears that is certainly
what has happened.
When looking at why the
side are doing so
well, Redford said it was
very much down to the
people in the dressing
room: "The atmosphere
is and has been great
over the last few weeks
and months, we have a
real team spirit no one is
yelling at each other, we
give it our all and we
know what we are doing
because of the
experience we have
